Hello everyone! Here’s a brief review on each of the different types of poker games available on the internet.
Texas Holdem – By far the most popular form of online and land based casino poker. This variation of poker can be played between two to ten players. It is a fast paced game and contains very simple poker rules. A single round consists of four rounds of bets where each player is dealt with two cards known as the Hole Cards and five other community cards for them to make use of. The player with the biggest five card hand wins the pot.
Omaha – Another variation of poker that is growing quickly among players around the world. This game can also accommodate as many as 2-10 players and consists of four betting rounds. Here the players in the game are dealt four cards (Hole cards) and five community cards for them to share and they need to maintain a hand that consists of 3 cards from the board along with 2 of their own cards to get the best poker hand. The variations of this game include Omaha Hi, Omaha Hi/Lo, etc.
Seven Card Stud – This is another well known version of poker where betting consists of the first Ante following by five rounds of bets. In this game, players are dealt 3 cards face down and four other cards are to be exposed for all the other players to see. The aim of the game is the same as that of the other poker variations; a player needs to build up a strong hand to win the pot. The variations include: 7-Card Stud Hi, 7-Card Stud Hi/Lo, Razz, etc.
Five Card Draw – This is one of my favorites because there is less number of players in this game. It is one of the oldest poker variations and can be played between 2-5 players. This game consists of the Ante proceeded by two betting rounds. Each player gets five cards face down and can choose to either dispose or draw up to 5 cards after the first round of betting takes place. As usual, the best five card hand wins after the showdown.
Caribbean Stud Poker – This game is different and exciting too! Unlike the other variations of poker where the players play against each other, this variation includes playing against the house or the bank (dealer). At the end of the game, the player must beat the dealer’s hand to win the pot. |
